Petrol - Part 2

Another post on the price of Petrol - Janet, you can see I'm thinking of you and the more practical details compared to the lyrical stuff in the rest of the blog :-)

We have bought Petrol four times so far this holiday, an advantage of a hybrid is better fuel consumption. We have bought at:

Bethal Mallard Mart, Maine (as previously mentioned) - $3.79 per gallon (US) = £0.61 per litre
Shell, Houlton, Maine - $3.719 per gallon (US) = £0.60 per litre
Sobey's Fuel, Sydney, Nova Scotia - $1.24 per litre = £0.78 per litre
Pasadena Petrol Station, Newfoundland - $1.287 per litre = £0.80 per litre

So Canada is a little more expensive than the US, and Newfoundland more expensive than Nova Scotia. But both are a lot cheaper than the UK.

On other less lyrical stuff Newfoundland has its own time zone - 30 minutes ahead of the Maritime Provinces (NB, PEI & NS). My watch which works well around the world and uses radio frequency to keep itself on time does not have an NST zone on it (it has every other one I have tried) so I am using a watch that is perennially 30 minutes slow - I think I may take it off all together as it is to easy to misjudge the time of things when you think you have another 30 minutes to go.
